The JM BUSHA 54 for Peace & Unity in Africa is proud to announce the launch of the JM BUSHA 54 Peace Relay Championship in partnership with the International School of South Africa in Mahikeng, North West province. The one of its kind relay and fun walk will take place on the 25th of May 2019 at the International School of South Africa premises in celebration of Africa Day.

In recent months, we have seen on our news outlets and social media violence between learners in schools across South Africa. These violent reports have sparked debate amongst South Africans, raising issues of safety in our schools. As an NPO that is dedicated to promoting peace and unity in Africa we are committed to raising awareness around this issue and therefore this year’s theme for the JM BUSHA 54 Peace Relay Championship is ending school violence with the two official hashtags being #IAMPEACE and #EndingSchoolViolence.

The relay will cover 54km with each leg being 5.4km. Individuals enter as part of a team consisting of five males and five females. Each member of the team has to complete 5.4km so that the team collectively can complete 54km which signifies promoting peace and unity in 54 countries of Africa. If you are not a runner but you’d still like to join in on the action, you can enter the fun walk which also covers 5.4km. R54 000.00 in prizes are up for grabs so remember to enter your team today.

Juniors (6 – 9 years): R10

High School Students (10 – 19 years): R25

Master (50 years and older): R100

Veterans (40 – 49 years): R150

Open (20 – 39 years): R150
