JM BUSHA 54 RACES STATEMENT ON AFRICA DAY AND THE ANNUAL PEACE PLEDGE GAMES
25/05/2020
The JM BUSHA 54 RACES Board of Trustees, Peace Ambassadors and signatoriesof the Peace Pledge join Africa in celebrating Africa Day, whose objective is to promote the unity and solidarity of African states; eradicate all forms of colonialism in Africa; and accelerate the political and socio-economic integration of the continent.
In light of the Covid19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of The Peace Pledge Games in Zimbabwe, Eswatini, Lesotho, South Africa and Central Africa Republic (the inaugural year) have been cancelled.
It is with great sadness that cultural and sporting celebratory events for 2020 are cancelled due to the pandemic. The health and safety of participants, partners, volunteers, officials, marshalls, service providers and spectators who make these games great each year come first.
Every year on 25 May, we celebrate Africa Day through sports with the Peace Pledge Games in all the African countries where JM BUSHA 54 RACES is operational.
With most countries in Africa in lockdown, the 2020 Africa Day celebrations will be very different; however we will continue to celebrate indoors nonetheless.
We continue to urge everyone to stay safe and follow local official guidelines on #Covid19.
Let's make JM BUSHA 54 AFRICA Day celebrations more joyful, better and rewarding in 2021.
