On the 17th of August, we launched our JM BUSHA 54 Student Chapter on 22 university campuses in South Africa.
The main event was hosted in Cape Town where our Founder, Mr Joseph Busha, addressed a crowd of more than 3000 students at the University of Cape Town. The speech was live-streamed around the country to thousands of more students who tuned in via the internet. The national event was a way of exposing students to the Peace and Unity initiative as well as to recruit ambassadors around the country to run our various programmes towards the end of 2017 and beyond.
We had some of the countries biggest artists there to entertain the crowd and bring people together. We are grateful to our partners who put the event together including Old Mutual (#OMGWAP) and Student Investor. We now have more than 50 ambassadors in all 9 provinces in South Africa and are in the process of registering a student society on each of the 22 university campuses we visited.
These societies will continue our movement for peace in their universities and communities. We tackled financial education, music, arts and culture - avenues with which we will continue to use to promote peace and unity across the continent. We are excited to replicate this event in more countries in the upcoming months.
